چکیده

Esophageal cancer is a highly aggressive malignant disease with a 5-year survival rate of 10% to 15% (Ferri et al., 2012). The incidence of esophageal cancer varies greatly between populations and across geographic regions. The Taihangshan Mountain area, including Linxian in Henan Province, a rural area of China, has the highest incidence of esophageal cancer, especially squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC), in the world (>100 per 100, 000 population) (Zhang et al., 2011; Lin et al., 2013). Inflammation has been recognized as a contributing factor for the pathogenesis of ESCC. There are results showing that two key inflammatory enzymes, Phospholipase A2 Group IIA (PLA2G2A) and cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) are involved in the pathways of arachidonic acid (AA) biosynthesis, and both play an important role in inflammation and angiogenesis as well as cancer (Murakami et al., 2011). Recently, we reported that PLA2G2A and COX-2 gene single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) may modify the risk of ESCC Abstract

Cytosolic Phospholipase A2 Group IV but Not Secreted Phospholipase A2 Group IIA, V, or X Induces Interleukin-8 and Cyclooxygenase-2 Gene and Protein Expression through Peroxisome Proliferator-activated Receptors 1 and 2 in Human Lung Cells*

It has been reported that interleukin-8 (IL-8) and cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) expression is regulated by peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor (PPAR)synthetic ligands. We have shown previously that cytosolic phospholipase A2 (cPLA2) is able to activate gene expression through PPARresponse elements (Pawliczak, R., Han, C., Huang, X. L., Demetris, A. J., Shelhamer, J. H., and Wu, T. (2002) J. ...

Search of factors that intermediate cytokine-induced group IIA phospholipase A2 expression through the cytosolic phospholipase A2- and 12/15-lipoxygenase-dependent pathway.

Inducible expression of group IIA secretory phospholipase A2 (sPLA2-IIA) by interleukin-1beta (IL-1beta) and tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNFalpha) is under the control of group IVA cytosolic PLA2alpha and 12/15-lipoxygenase (12/15-LOX) in rat fibroblastic 3Y1 cells. We show here that this cytokine induction of sPLA2-IIA mRNA requires de novo protein synthesis. By means of cDNA array analysis, ...

Induction of cyclooxygenase-2 by secretory phospholipases A2 in nerve growth factor-stimulated rat serosal mast cells is facilitated by interaction with fibroblasts and mediated by a mechanism independent of their enzymatic functions.

Mast cells exhibit a biphasic (immediate and delayed) eicosanoid-biosynthetic response after stimulation with particular cytokines or Fc epsilonRI (high affinity receptor for IgE) cross-linking. Treatment of rat serosal connective tissue mast cells (CTMC) with nerve growth factor (NGF) induced only the delayed phase of PGD2 generation that depended on inducible cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2), but not...

Group IIa secretory phospholipase A2 (sPLA2IIa) and progression in patients with lung cancer.

OBJECTIVE Group IIa secretory phospholipase A2 (sPLA2 IIa) plays a role in the malignant potential of several epithelial cancers. It is overexpressed in many cancer specimens and its elevated levels are correlated with high tumor grade and metastasis. Here, we evaluate the clinical significance of sPLA2 IIa in lung adenocarcinoma and the role of sPLA2 IIa in the process of cancer cell invasion ...

Secretory phospholipase A2 group V: lesion distribution, activation by arterial proteoglycans, and induction in aorta by a Western diet.

OBJECTIVE To study the distribution of group V secretory phospholipase A2 (sPLA2) in human and mouse lesions and compare its expression by human vascular cells, its activity toward lipoproteins, and the interaction with arterial proteoglycans (proteoglycans) with those of sPLA2-IIA. In addition, we also investigated the effect of a Western diet and lipopolysaccharide challenge on the aortic exp...
